Suspect stabs cop to death

Johannesburg - A policeman was stabbed to death at Sundumbili Township, near Mandeni, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Saturday.
Spokesperson Superintendent Muzi Mngomezulu said a 26-year-old man wanted for allegedly breaking windows at a house in Bhidla section stabbed the policeman at 15:25 on Saturday.
"Two policemen had responded to a complaint of violence where the suspect was allegedly breaking windows at House 171 Bhidla section. On arrival at the scene the suspect had left the house," Mngomezulu said.
He said police searched for the man in the area.
"While the police were inquiring about the suspect in the area. The suspect went straight to the police, who at the time did not know his identity. He fatally stabbed one of the police officers on the chest and mouth," Mngomezulu said.
The man fled the scene but was later arrested in the area, said Mngomezulu.
He is facing charges of murder and will appear in the Nyoni Magistrate's Court soon.
