Durban - A KwaZulu-Natal man was arrested on Monday morning after he attempted to hijack a vehicle, police said.
Umbilo police spokesperson Captain John Lazarus said the hijacker had been travelling in a hijacked vehicle at the time, but was keeping watch on another car in Umbilo that he wanted to hijack.
"My colleague and I were patrolling the vicinity when we spotted a suspicious man inside a Toyota Yaris on Fiedin Drive," he said.
They gave chase and the hijacker's car slammed into a pole and then into a wall, he said.
"The occupant jumped out of the car and ran into a bushy section and we called in the Dog Unit," said Lazarus.
The man was apprehended and the hijacked car was seized.
