Durban - Thirteen members of the SA National Defence Force based at Ladysmith, KwaZulu-Natal, were injured in a road accident, the SANDF said on Thursday.

"I can confirm that the incident occurred on Tuesday. Nine members are currently at the Medi-Clinic in Pietermaritzburg while four sustained minor injuries," said spokesperson Nico Allie.

It was not clear as to how the accident occurred.

Meanwhile the SA National Defence Union (Sandu) expressed its concern for the safety of soldiers following the incident.
