Johannesburg - Six people have died after a bakkie overturned at Buntingville, Eastern Cape, the SABC reported on Saturday.

The accident occurred between Mthatha and Ngqeleni on Friday.

Arrive Alive spokesperson Tshepo Machaea told SABC ten people were seriously injured - among them a one-year-old baby boy. He said the boy's condition was serious but stable.

All the injured were admitted to Nelson Mandela Academic Hospital in Mthatha.

Machaea said the driver of the bakkie was arrested for driving without a valid driver's licence, and would face charges of culpable homicide.

He will appear in Mthatha Magistrate's Court on Monday.
