Rapport
Johannesburg - Sprinkaan Williams was one of the first people who allegedly saw Johan Nel, 18, start firing on the residents of Skielik.
"I was here at the post when I heard three shots".
"I thought he was firing up into the air, but when I saw him wanting to shoot me, I ran away."
"There were three of us running away. The one went towards Swartruggens and the other headed for Koster and I went to hide and peeped to see what was going on."
"I could see his face. It was blood-red."
"I don't know what had made him so angry".
David Magose heard Nel approaching.
"He was shouting, 'Come out you k*****s! I want to shoot you!"
"I saw that gun, " told Magose.
"He went down the road. He wanted to shoot another madala, but I heard only clack-clack-clack. His bullets were finished and he had to reload".
"His pockets were full of bullets."
Magose said Nel then headed for an old man, who unlike the others who had run away, kept sitting in front of his house.
"The man asked him (Nel), 'Kleinbaas, why are you doing this? And he (Nel) said, 'I am killing all the k*****s'.
(Rapport tried to talk to this man, who could not be identified, but he was too upset to talk."
Williams said, "Later I saw him walking into the veld. He stopped at the trees, slung the gun over his shoulders and walked off."
Williams shook his head.
"He was just crazy".
"He drank something, that guy".
