Cops arrest 3 after shoot-out
23/01/2008 18:00 - (SA)
Johannesburg - Three men were arrested following a shoot-out with police in Edenvale, Johannesburg police said on Wednesday.
Captain Piet Mnyakeni said police stopped a white Nissan bakkie for reckless driving on Tuesday at about 17:45, but it sped off.
"Police immediately called for back-up when the driver refused to stop. The men started shooting at the police while they were being chased and police returned fire," said Mnyakeni.
Mnyakeni said the bakkie then collided with another car and the police then managed to arrest the men.
"One unlicensed firearm was recovered from them."
It is thought that the vehicle might have been stolen.
The three were due to appear in the Germiston Magistrate's Court on Thursday, he said.
