Johannesburg - A 42-year-old mine worker was arrested on Thursday for being in possession of commercial mining explosives, believed to be used in ATM bombings, Eastern Cape police said.
"The man was arrested at his home in Ngobozana, Lusikisiki, during the early hours of this morning. He was found with explosives, safety and stopper fuses, and blasting cartridges," said Superintendent Mzukisi Fatyela.
"The type of explosive found matches those being used in ATM bombings. We believe that these explosives belong to the mines."
The man is expected to appear in the Lusikisiki Magistrate's Court shortly, Fatyela said.
