01/02/2008 08:00 - (SA)
Johannesburg - A group of policemen gathered and cordoned off the front of the Randburg Regional Court on Friday morning for the appearance of the national police commissioner Jackie Selebi.
Selebi's first appearance for alleged corrupt relations with murder accused and convicted drug trafficker Glen Agliotti was expected to start at 09:00.
Scorpions head prosecutor Gerrie Nel and a contingent of other Scorpion's members arrived early on Friday morning and went inside the court.
Selebi's alleged corrupt relations refer to payments to Agliotti amounting to R1.2m.
He is also alleged to have turned a blind eye to drug smuggling.
Selebi has been placed on leave by President Thabo Mbeki and has resigned as head of Interpol.
