Johannesburg - Ten security guards were injured when their bakkie overturned on the R24 west in Bedfordview on Wednesday morning, said Ekurhuleni metro police.

The 35-year-old driver of the Hyundai bakkie and his nine passengers, aged between 24 and 45, were taken to the Arwyp Hospital, in Kempton Park, said Inspector Kobeli Mokheseng.

They had been on their way from Kempton Park to Alrode, in Alberton, at the time of the crash.

He said preliminary investigation indicated that the bakkie veered out of control after hitting barriers at the side of the road.

A case of reckless or negligent driving has been registered at the Bedfordview police station.
