Johannesburg - Two ATMs in Mondeor, south of Johannesburg, were bombed within 45 minutes in the early hours of Friday morning.
The first incident took place at the Panorama Shopping Centre in Mulbarton, where security personnel were held up by eight armed suspects, Captain Johan du Toit said.
"The security guards were locked in a room, the men blew up an ABSA ATM, and fled with an undisclosed amount of money," he said.
In the second incident, at 02:30, a Nedbank ATM was blown up at the Caltex service station in Kibler Park.
"Twenty suspects in four vehicles held up petrol attendants and locked them in a store room.
"The attendants then heard an explosion. The men fled with an undisclosed amount of money," Du Toit said.
No suspects had been arrested and investigations were continuing.
