Miniskirt ordeal sparks outrage Taxi driver arrested for rape 'Taxi driver raped me'

Johannesburg - A 21-year-old taxi driver allegedly raped a 17-year-old teenager on Thursday in Lebowakgomo after offering her a lift, Limpopo police said on Friday.

Inspector Manong Tshehla said the taxi driver offered the girl a lift but took her to his home where he allegedly raped her. She informed police and a case was opened.

The alleged rapist was arrested on Thursday and was due to appear before the Thambamoopo Magistrate's Court on Monday, said Tshehla.

This follows an incident on Sunday where taxi drivers and hawkers at the Noord Street taxi rank in Johannesburg allegedly tore off 25-year-old Nwabisa Ngcukana's clothes and indecently assaulted her for wearing a miniskirt.
