Kimberley - A man from Onseepkans in the Northern Cape has been admitted to the Kimberley Hospital Complex as a result of Congo Fever, provincial health officials said on Monday.

Health spokesperson Lulu Ntsie said the results of blood tests conducted on the 36-year-old man confirmed the illness on Friday.

The blood samples were tested by the National Institute for Communicable Diseases.

Ntsie said the man was first admitted to the Gordonia Hospital on February 19 for tick bites and fever.

"His condition is stable and he is being treated in the isolation ward at Kimberley (Hospital Complex)," she said.

Ntsie said precautionary measures were implemented to eliminate the spread of the infection and all who had contact with the man would be under surveillance for the next ten days.
