Johannesburg - About 16 people were injured after their taxi collided with a bakkie near Roodepoort, ER24 said on Saturday.
Spokesperson Werner Vermaak said the accident took place at the intersection of Main Reef Road and Shaft Street at 17:30 on Friday.
He said: "Injured people were scattered next to the taxi. Two men were trapped in the bakkie, with no serious injuries." Two taxi occupants were rushed to hospital in serious, but stable conditions, said Vermaak.
The bakkie was travelling on Main Reef road towards Johannesburg when the accident happened, said Vermaak.
Meanwhile, in KwaZulu-Natal a bakkie driver lost control of his vehicle on the wet road killing one person, ER24 spokesperson Derrick Banks said.
He said the accident happened on the M13 Fields Hill in Pinetown at 06:30.
People sitting in the bakkie's loading bin were thrown out of the vehicle over a barrier and fence into a private property, said Banks. The seven injured were treated on scene for minor injuries, he said.
