Johannesburg - Two students drowned in a swimming pool at the Kruger National Park, the park's management said on Monday.

The bodies of the Era College students were found in the fenced-off area of the swimming pool at the Pretoriuskop Rest Camp on Saturday morning.

Kruger National Park spokesperson Raymond Travers said one body was found at the bottom of the swimming pool and the other was found outside the pool in the fenced area.

"We reacted to a complaint from another guest staying in the camp who reported rowdy behaviour from the swimming pool area on Friday at about 18:30.

"The group was ordered to return to their accommodation units and they did. There were no reports of anyone missing at that stage," he said.

Dr Bandile Mkhize, the park's managing executive, expressed his sincere sympathies to the relatives of the students.

"Our heartfelt sympathies go out to the family and friends of the two victims," he said.
