Johannesburg - Two ATMs were bombed on Friday morning in Atteridgeville outside Pretoria, police said.

Constable Patricia Simelane said three armed men arrived at an Engen garage just before 01:00.

"According to a security guard, they were armed with rifles. They went to the machines and the next he heard was an explosion sound."

Simelane said the robbers got away with nothing because after the explosion they did not gain access to the money.

"The machines were slightly damaged."

There were no injuries reported and had not been any arrests yet.

A malicious damage to property docket was opened, she said.
