Johannesburg - Killers of National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) chairperson Elias Mulaudzi were sentenced to life in prison at Potchefstroom High Court, police said on Friday.
Captain Adele Myburgh said six men appeared in court on Thursday and four were found guilty and sentenced to life in prison.
The remaining two men were acquitted.
"Three of the accused were miners at the Westdriefontein mine. They worked with Mulaudzi. The motive for his killing was that he had offended them in a meeting."
Mulaudzi was an employee and a union chairperson at the same mine, when he was shot and killed on July 3 2006.
The men who were sentenced to life are Jabulani Ntshangase, 37, Sipho Mlabo, 38, Vincent Mpjali, 38, and Mbuso Mthethwa, 38.
