Gang bombs ATM in Transkei

Johannesburg - A group of unidentified men fled empty-handed after bombing a Standard Bank ATM in Tabankulu in the Transkei on Monday morning, Eastern Cape police said.
Superintendent Mzukisi Fatyela said about five men blew up the ATM and fled following a shoot-out with the police at 02:30. None of the officers were injured.
Fatyela said 38 spent cartridges from R5 rifles and 10 9mm pistol cartridges were found at the scene.
"Remains of commercial explosives were also picked up from the scene."
No arrested had been made.
