Driver beaten after fatal crash

Acornhoek - An elderly woman was killed and six other people were injured on Sunday when a motorist lost control of his bakkie and hit them.
They were guests at a Mucongolo traditional dance ceremony in Maromeni village near Acornhoek and were hit while walking on the roadside about 19:00.
The motorist had swerved to avoid hitting a woman who was crossing the road.
He missed the woman, but seven other pedestrians were not so lucky.
They all were injured and rushed to Mapulaneng Hospital in Bushbuckridge.
One, 70-year-old Luzani Mnisi, died of her injuries.
The motorist drove home to Timbavati village where community members tracked him down and assaulted him.
Police rescued him and he was admitted at Tintswalo Hospital, where he is being treated for serious injuries.
Captain Klaas Maluka, said on Monday that police were investigating a case of culpable homicide and a case of assault with the intention to cause grievous bodily harm.
He said no one had been arrested yet.
