Durban - A 26-year-old woman was stabbed repeatedly on Thursday when four intruders entered her Pietermaritzburg home, police said.
Superintendent Henry Budhram said the incident took place at an outbuilding on Boom Street after 01:00.
The victim - Zanele Sibisi - was asleep when she was awoken by the four in her room.
Budhram said she was bundled into a blanket and tied up with a rope.
As the robbers ransacked the home, Sibisi freed herself but was caught.
She was stabbed several times in her chest and face but survived. Sibisi was reportedly in a stable condition at a local hospital.
The robbers fled with a DVD player, a television set and clothing.
Budhram said police established that the intruders gained entry by bending burglar bars and kicking a door open.
No arrests had been made.
