Johannesburg - A 40-year-old man was shot and killed during a road rage incident on Friday in Montclair, Durban, police said.

Superintendent Muzi Mngomezulu said a truck and a bakkie were travelling on Montclair Road at about noon when the two drivers began to argue.

"It is not clear what they were arguing about but they both stopped. The driver of the bakkie fired a shot at the truck driver and he died on the scene."

The 47-year-old bakkie driver was arrested.

A murder docket was opened by the police.

The man was expected to appear in the Durban Magistrate's Court on Monday.
