Power cut at the bank
21/04/2008 13:06 - (SA)
Durban - Ever wondered what might happen in the eventuality that load shedding catches you while you are withdrawing money from an ATM?
Well, rest assured that in most cases your card will not be swallowed and your money will be secure.
At least, this was the assurance given by Nedbank Network managing director, Brian Duguid, who said that in most cases the card is not swallowed and the transaction is cancelled.
"Should the card be swallowed, the customer does not have to re-apply for the card. They should call the number provided at the ATM in order for the incident to be logged and the normal process to collect the card at the branch should be followed," he said.
Nedbank is currently reviewing their entire business continuity planning for bank branches.
"This exercise will include planning for the installation of generators in key branch sites across the country to supplement the existing generator capacity - Our objective is to minimise disruption to our clients as a result of power outages, while at the same time ensuring the safety of our clients and staff in the branches," Duguid said.
Nedbank has taken a proactive approach of working with Eskom and key partners to identify energy efficiency initiatives for their branches.
