Johannesburg - Hijackers dressed as traffic officers pulled a 30-year-old man off the road and stole his white Toyota bakkie, Mpumalanga police said on Thursday.
Police spokesperson Abie Khoabane said: "On Tuesday at about 10:30 a white Almera suddenly stopped in front of Vusi Mokwena on the Bethal-Blinkpan road. Three men dressed in traffic uniforms approached and accused him of speeding.
"They then tied him up and threw him in the Almera boot and drove to an unknown place and left him in the middle of a mealie field."
Mokwena was later found by people who took him to the nearest police station.
The bakkie was valued at R500 000.
Police were investigating.
