32 injured as bus, car collide

  • Johannesburg - Two people died and 32 were injured when a bus and a car collided on the Moloto road near Pretoria on Sunday, Netcare 911 said.

    Spokesperson Nick Dollman said the collision happened around 08:00.

    The two occupants of the car had died and firefighters had to use the jaws-of-life to remove their corpses.

    Most of those injured were only slightly hurt but were all transported to Pretoria Academic and Mamelodi hospitals.

    Netcare 911 responded to 305 motor vehicle collisions and 45 pedestrian collisions over the 72-hour period between Thursday and Saturday.

    During a 96 hour time period over last weekend Netcare 911 responded to 516 motor vehicle and 74 pedestrian collisions throughout South Africa.

    The Netcare 911 long weekend statistics for regional and national collisions would be updated on Monday, said Dollman.
