  • Johannesburg - The case against the alleged murderers of five-year-old Danielle Esterhuizen was postponed to May 6 because there was no available courtroom at the Johannesburg High Court on Monday.

Three men, David Ngomane, 31, Tsakane Sithole, 25 and Thabang Jane, 26 briefly appeared in court.

They are facing murder, attempted murder and robbery charges as well as a charge of possession of an unlicensed firearm.

It is alleged that they killed Danielle Esterhuizen in December 2006 at Riebeeck Lake Resort in Randfontein.

Esterhuizen was shot dead while sitting on her mother's lap.

A group of people gathered outside the Johannesburg High Court on Monday where the murder case of five-year-old Danielle Esterhuizen will be heard.

The group sang outside the court and waved placards bearing Esterhuizen's face.

DA councillor for Randfontein Evert du Plessis said that the gathering was an attempt to highlight crime in South Africa.

The group was expected to lay wreaths in front of the court before the case began.
