2 flee through cop-van window Dangerous prisoners escape Cops catch 'serial escapee'

Johannesburg - Five awaiting trial prisoners escaped from the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court on Monday, police said.

"Today (Monday) at about 12:00, five suspects who were apparently awaiting trial for bank robbery managed to escape while their case was in session," said Captain Julia Claassen.

"They managed to overpower a court orderly as well as the investigating officer and they all ran out of the court."

One of the men was re-arrested inside the court building but the other four fled.

All the men were in civilian clothes.

Claassen said the men were in their late twenties and were wearing jeans and takkies.
