5 arrested for robbery and rape

Johannesburg - Five men have been arrested in connection with assault and robbery of an elderly couple in Queenswood over the weekend, Pretoria police said on Monday.
One man was arrested at a road block in Mamelodi at 15:00 on Monday and was found in possession of a gun stolen from the couple's home.
"After follow up investigations four other suspects were arrested in the Mamelodi East area," said Inspector Klaas van der Kooi.
The five were found in possession of the couple's stolen property and police would conduct an identity parade to establish which three of the five were at the couple's home.
"[The] couple were sitting in the lounge on Saturday watching television when three men entered their house through the unlocked kitchen door and assaulted [them] badly," said Van der Kooi.
One man raped the 76-year-old woman. The men then ransacked the house, taking valuables and four guns from a safe before fleeing the scene in the couple's white Audi 500.
Police recovered all four guns stolen from the couple's home and a fifth gun reported to be stolen from Middleburg in Mpumalanga.
The men, aged between 16 and 33, are expected to appear in the Pretoria Magistrate's court on Wednesday.
