06/05/2008 10:06 - (SA)
Johannesburg - Eighteen people were injured when two taxis collided and overturned in Durban on Tuesday, ER24 paramedics said.
Spokesperson Derrick Banks said the accident took place on the N2 south off-ramp to the M25 at about 06:00.
The taxis landed on their sides after the collision and the injured were scattered across the road.
Four people had back and neck injuries, while others escaped with lacerations and abrasions to their faces.
They were all taken to hospitals in the greater Durban area.
The accident occurred when a taxi that had taken the off-ramp from the N2 lost control. It went through an intersection and collided side-on with another taxi that was going through the intersection.
The impact caused both taxis to overturn.
