Nelspruit - A couple appeared in court on Wednesday in connection with killing a suspected stalker at their house.
Nkompodi Masemola, 35, of Ga-Masemola near Jane Furse in Limpopo was beaten to death with a plank and sticks at about 01:00 on April 22 at the couple's house in Majakaneng section.
The couple, Johannes Khoza, 49, and his wife Saviour, 33, were arrested when neighbours called the police. An ambulance took the badly injured and heavily bleeding Masemola to Jane Furse Hospital, but he died before he got there.
On Wednesday, the couple was not asked to plead to charges of murder when they appeared in the Nebo Magistrate's Court.
Khoza was remanded into custody while his wife is out on warning.
They will appear again on Friday when Khoza will formally apply for bail.
They have asked for free legal assistance.
According to Inspector Maboke Lediga the couple told police that Masemola had often made sexual advances towards Saviour Khoza, despite her objections.
On the night of the murder, Masemola apparently arrived and knocked on the door, calling out Saviour's name.
