Pta ATM bombers flee with cash

Pretoria - Robbers made off with an undisclosed sum of cash after bombing an ATM in Eersterus, north of Pretoria on Friday morning.
"An unknown number of suspects made off with an undisclosed sum of cash after bombing an Absa ATM. They also shot a male police inspector before fleeing the scene in an unknown vehicle," said Constable Lerato Mthiyane.
The incident happened at a small shopping complex in Eersterus' Job Avenue at about 03:00.
The local community patrol was on duty at the time when they heard the blast and went to investigate.
"They found the suspects at the scene who started shooting at the community patrol; it was then that the inspector was shot in the hand," Mthiyane said.
Explosives were found in an Audi A3 left by the robbers at scene of the crime.
A case of ATM bombing has been opened. No arrests have been made.
