Johannesburg - A man was arrested on Sunday for allegedly raping a 20-year-old woman in Ratanda, Heidelberg, police said.
Spokesperson Captain Thivhulawi Tshilate said the man - who was a taxi driver - had picked up the woman at her home, requesting her to travel with him as he dropped off passengers in the area on Saturday night.
"After dropping off passengers, he stopped at a veld in Vaal Dam road and proposed love to her. When she refused, he allegedly forced himself on her."
In another incident in Ratanda, a man was arrested after allegedly stabbing his 23-year-old friend on Saturday night.
The pair were on their way home from a nearby shebeen when they started fighting over a girlfriend, said Thivhulawi.
The 39-year-old man then stabbed his friend and died on the spot, he said.
"The man was arrested at his girlfriend's home and the knife was recovered."
The arrested men would appear in the Heidelberg Magistrate's Court shortly.
