  • Pretoria - Power has been restored to parts of Soshanguve, north of Pretoria, following technical problems in the area, the City of Tshwane said on Friday.

"Restoration commenced on Friday. Power went off this week due to technical problems," said City spokesperson Console Tleane.

The power cuts mostly affected the township's Block H.

Tleane said the city struggled to restore power to the area because of a strike by members of the SA Municipal Workers Union that was called off on Wednesday.

"The problem was that while workers from our electricity division were not on strike, they were prevented from entering the area. There was a lot of intimidation against the technicians.

"Our team will be working throughout the day. They will also be working throughout the weekend. Hopefully normal supply should be restored by Monday," said Tleane.
