Johannesburg - Police have arrested a German national who was posing as a soccer coach and representing a German international youth academy, and who is allegedly defrauding the public out of money.
The alleged conman was arrested in Johannesburg on Sunday and Safa was keen that the public should help the police with their enquiries.
Safa chief executive officer Raymond Hack said on Sunday that they fully supported the efforts of the police and asked members of the public who had paid any cash to such a person to contact Captain van Niekerk on 073 183 5670.
Hack said the suspect was apparently using Safa emblems to con the public out of money.
"We know of one person who paid R10 000."
The suspect was "up to his con tricks in Cape Town and other parts of the country".
"He was arrested this morning in Johannesburg. We know he was doing a similar con trick in Canada and Namibia," said Hack.
