Johannesburg - Some foreigners from Jabulani in Soweto were waiting on Tuesday to be transported by police to the Johannesburg Park Station to catch trains to their home countries.
"About 40 foreigners from Zimbabwe and Mozambique have signed affidavits that they want to be sent back home," said Inspector Kay Makhubela.
"They say they don't want what's happened to others to happen to them."
He said Johannesburg metro police would accompany the foreigners to the train station.
Meanwhile, five men claiming to be looking for foreigners vandalised a house in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
"The men stole some household items and got away. The family knew who the men were because they lived in the area," said Makhubela.
He said foreign nationals - who were renting the outside rooms of the house - were not targeted.
Two of the men were arrested at another house in the area, said Makhubela.
