London - More than 8 000 South Africans moved to Britain in 2007, statistics show.
British citizenship was last year awarded to more immigrants from Africa (31%) than from any other continent.
Asia was second at 22%.
According to the British Office for National Statistics, 8 150 South Africans found a new home in Britain.
New immigrants reached a record number of 164 635.
Over the past ten years, 3.9 million foreigners have moved to Britain.
According to The Guardian, these numbers are somewhat cancelled out by the almost two million Brits who immigrated to other countries, the most popular being Australia.
