Johannesburg - Eighteen people have been arrested for speeding on the N1 south between the Allandale and New Road on-ramps, Johannesburg metro police said on Sunday.
Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said they included a 43-year-old man caught driving a BMW X5 at 233km/h.
Minnaar said a Cameroonian diplomat was also caught on camera driving at 200km/h. The diplomat failed to stop his Audi A3 and collided with a metro police van.
Both men were arrested and released on bail of R1 000 each. They would appear in the Midrand Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
