Johannesburg - A 28-year-old East London shopowner was killed during an armed robbery at his shop in the Leaches Bay informal settlement, Eastern Cape said on Sunday.

The man was found with two bullet wounds, in the head and in the stomach, around 01:30 on Saturday, said Superintended Mtati Tana.

Tana said it appeared the robbers broke into the shop though a back window and demanded money.

They took an undisclosed amount before shooting the shop owner who died at the scene, he said.

No one has been arrested and police urge anyone with information to contact Captain Mzwanele Msutu on 043-707-0600 or 10111.
