Johannesburg - Eastern Cape police have arrested a second man for the murder of rugby marketer Pierre Blom in August, they said on Saturday. Spokesperson Superintendent Mzukisi Fatyela said the man was arrested in Phola Park, Mthata on Friday.
"Members of the crime intelligence unit confiscated three loaded firearms when arresting him and he has also been linked to other crimes around the Eastern Cape," Fatyela said.
The 27-year-old is expected to appear in the East London Magistrate's Court on Monday, facing charges of murder and possession of unlicensed firearms.
On October 12, police arrested a 25-year-old man in Cefane, Ngcobo for the same crime.
He has since appeared in court and was denied bail.
Blom was killed by a group that had just robbed a filling station in East London.
Dispatch online reported at the time that the former Border Rugby Football Union marketing agent was shot dead when he was caught up in an armed robbery at an Engen garage on Bonza Bay road, East London.
Police are still searching for other people linked to Blom's murder.
