Johannesburg - A 24-year-old woman was arrested for murder in Katlehong, Gauteng police said on Thursday.
Captain Mega Ndobe said the woman from Silumaview in Katlehong allegedly shot dead her 25-year-old boyfriend who worked as an Ekurhuleni metro police officer after an argument on Wednesday.
"The woman allegedly grabbed the man's firearm and shot him in the upper body during an argument in their house. He was taken to hospital but later died," said Ndobe.
The cause of the argument was unknown, he said.
The woman was expected to appear in the Germiston Magistrate's Court on Friday on a charge of murder.
Meanwhile, 50 people were arrested in Katlehong during a stop and search operation on Wednesday at 22:00.
Ndobe said the suspects were arrested for crimes ranging from common assault, housebreaking and theft, intimidation, theft of motor vehicles, kidnapping and assault.
"Twelve suspects were arrested for suspicion of being illegal immigrants," he said.
Those arrested were expected to appear in the Alberton and Germiston Magistrate's Courts on Friday, police said.
