SABC staff up for corruption
25/05/2006 20:21 - (SA)
Durban - Four SABC employees aged between 34 and 49 are expected to appear in Durban magistrate's court on corruption charges, said police on Thursday.
Senior superintendent Phindile Radebe said the four were arrested after a tip-off from the SABC.
Radebe said: "It is alleged that they were involved in corrupt activities regarding the tendering for motor vehicles that were on sale at the SABC's Durban offices in March this year."
She said the four were taken in for questioning on Thursday morning after some were arrested at the SABC offices in Durban and others at their homes.
SABC radio reported on Thursday that the arrests and subsequent questioning resulted from an internal audit investigation which started two weeks ago.
