Cape Town - Doctor Essop Pahad, minister in the presidency, told Democratic Alliance MP, Raenette Taljaard, in parliament on Wednesday that the days of "white schoolmarms" were over.
"You should not speak to your president as if he were a child," he said.
Pahad's reprimand came after Taljaard said that Mbeki could be contravening legislation on ethics for the executive authority if he did not act against Defence Minister Mosiuoa Lekota.
Lekota did not disclose all his business interest, including directorships, to parliament.
She said Mbeki also had to explain the role he and government played in securing a Nigerian oil agreement for a company called the South African Oil Company.
The DA wanted to know whether the ANC received any money from this company or any of the contractors in the multi-million rand deal.
