Land summit set for July

Cape Town - The long-awaited National Land Summit will take place in Johannesburg at the end of next month.
"The ministry of agriculture and land affairs is currently engaging and inviting different stakeholders to be part of this event," the department said in a statement on Friday.
The summit would be held from July 27 to 31.
"As a prelude to this (summit), on June 19 there will be marches in the entire country to mark the 10-year celebration of the land and agrarian reforms and also celebrating the 50 years of the Freedom Charter."
In April this year, Land Affairs Minister Thoko Didiza told the National Council of Provinces that discussions at the summit would include an assessment of the pace of land reform in South Africa over the past decade.
It would look at "blockages" in implementing reform, as well as an examination of the country's land market and how it works.
The summit would also examine "making interventions on what is required to improve our delivery mechanism".
