Zuma frowns over Tokyo claims
14/06/2007 08:27 - (SA)
Johannesburg - African National Congress deputy president Jacob Zuma criticised businessman Tokyo Sexwale for announcing that he may consider nomination for party president, the SABC reported on Wednesday.
With six months left before the election of the new leadership, Zuma said it was "unheard of" in the ANC to campaign for leadership.
Zuma defended himself and President Thabo Mbeki against the notion that they were campaigning.
"I've never said I want to be president... The media has gradually created this impression and when I do my work, they say 'he is campaigning.' Now of late they say Mbeki is campaigning," said Zuma.
