ZIM 16/07/2007 14:06
Whilst all of this is really noble of SA can we afford to accept anymore people who are not contributing to the economy into our country. Is there any reason why SA and AU have remained silent on Zimbabwe. Why do we as a region allow this deranged man to destabilize to SADC region anymore. There are all question the normal TAX PAYING South Africans would like to know. We have our own problems like unemployment which wether we like it or not is linked to crime ????????? - Mark |

Zim Refugees 16/07/2007 14:26
I totally disagree with Mark Lowe. I feel that the gov should send all of them back to Zim. There is an old saying that a people get the gov they deserve. The Zimbabwians had a chance to vote Mad Rob out, they did not. So they must live with the consequences of their decision. Africans need to realize that having a vote brings with it responsibilities. Zimbabwians must live with the consequences of their actions. - Philip |

why 16/07/2007 14:40
Why don't we build them health spa's and beauty Salons as well? Why don't we rather spend our TAX money on SECURING the borders? We as TAX payers have to pay for this ever-increasing mess, just because our spineless president is thick buddies with a dictator? Welcome to Africa. - Juan |

Preparation should have started months ago 16/07/2007 14:50
Over 4000 people are streaming over the borders every day but the SA government refuses to admit that a problem even exists. And once again we are not prepared... Are we expected to just 'absorb' these people some how? Imagine what so many desperate refugees are going to do to the crime situation. This is such a gross violation of basic human rights! - May |

ZIMBABWE 16/07/2007 14:57
Why should SA foot the bill for Zimbabwe, we need to take care of our own first, before you ask the tax payers to help sustain these refugees, and there is enough crime as is. - anno |

Home Affairs, speed up your processes... 16/07/2007 15:01
I too agree that our government has to improve on ways and means it processes REFUGEE status to our fellow Afrikans. Refugee camps to me bring about images of Afrikans locked in barb wired compounds, in Europe Mediterranean, with some sawing their mouths shut in protest of Refugee Camps inhuman and racist nature. These are our fellow Afrikans and NOT refugees in their land of birth. Do not cage them like wild contagious animals. - Toto |

Why ~ SA needs refugee camps for Zim?? 16/07/2007 15:07
There is thousands of South Africans that need help, and we want to help and support the Zim citizens, this doesn't make any sense. - SA need help |

The Issue 16/07/2007 15:17
I feel that if we are prepared to house refugee Zimbabweans then we should be prepared to change the situation in Zimbabwe either by Strong Military action or any other means. By the looks of it Government has been sidestepping this issue. Is it fair that South Africans pay for 3 million illegals. Government wake up you cannot fix this by eating your vegetables ;) - Wolf |

true 16/07/2007 15:42
I trhink this is a good idea because the way things are going we should help in setting the camps. this will properly solve a lot of issues associted with illigal immigrants - mza |

ja, like that will ever happen 16/07/2007 15:50
Why spend their hard-earned taxpayer money on refugee camps? It would be far more useful as performance bonuses for all the fat-cats who will be sitting around a big table debating on whether to talk about actually doing something. We can't provide facilities for our own poor, what makes anyone think that gvmnt will do anything for the poor Zimbos? Mbeki already said we must get used to this immigration problem, coz it's not going away.I admire the DA's sentiment though! - Anymouse |
