Polokwane - The deputy Speaker of the Limpopo legislature apparently sent an SMS to the DA leader in the province to cross over to the ANC.
Michael Holford, DA-leader in Limpopo, was furious about the SMS he had received from Catherine Mabuza's cellphone.
He showed the SMS on his cellphone to Beeld.
It read: "Now is the time to jump ship and those who hesitate are lost. Call urgently to arrange."
Holford received the SMS at 18:20 on Monday night.
"The deputy Speaker is supposed to be impartial in the process of floor-crossing, and then I receive an SMS like this," Holford said.
The SMS was sent on the day that the DA's former provincial chairperson announced that he intended to cross over to the ANC.
Holford said the SMS from Mabuza's cellphone showed how democracy was being undermined in Limpopo.
According to him the DA didn't mind Maanda crossing over to the ANC because he hadn't performed all that well in the DA.
Kenny Mathiva spokesperson for the Limpopo legislature could not be reached on Friday to comment on the SMS sent to Holford by Mabuza.
