IFP and DA claim ANC council
16/09/2007 10:43 - (SA)
Johannesburg - An Inkatha Freedom Party and Democratic Alliance coalition took control of a previously African National Congress-led municipality in Kwazulu-Natal, SABC news reported on Saturday.
Two councillors from the ANC apparently crossed the floor to the IFP, said SABC news.
IFP chairperson Zanele Magwaza-Msibi said the Endumeni muncipality in the Dundee area was now under the control of the coalition.
"This is going to help us a lot as the IFP," Magwaza-Msibi told SABC news.
"As you you know we are in the process of consolidating and strengthening ourselves as the IFP in preparation for 2009 elections because we want to make sure that we take indeed the province of Kwazulu-Natal from the ANC to the IFP," she said.
