Polokwane - The outcome of the vote for the ANC's new president and the other top five positions in the party could be known by 18:00 on Tuesday, secretary general Kgalema Motlanthe said in Polokwane.

"For the six national officials, voting has ended. They are now counting and collating and hopefully will be through by 18:00 this evening," he told a news conference at the ANC's 52nd national conference on Tuesday.

"Around about that time... you will get the results," he said, after days of delays.

The election committee will then invite nominations from the floor for the additional members of the national executive committee, which has been increased from 66 to 86.
