Zuma arrives for ANC lekgotla
01/02/2008 12:00 - (SA)
Cape Town - ANC president Jacob Zuma arrived for the ANC's parliamentary caucus lekgotla in Parliament on Friday morning.
A woman ululated as he was escorted by his body guards into the Chief Whip's office.
He emerged a short while later and entered the Old Assembly chamber, refusing to respond to requests from journalists for comment.
He took his place on the right hand side of the Speaker's chair and clapped in accompaniment to chants of "ANC, ANC".
When MPs began singing his trademark "Umshini wami" song, Zuma did not respond by dancing and merely continued clapping, smiling at fellow MPs, giving a thumbs up sign to one.
Reporters and photographers were then asked to leave the chamber.
ANC caucus spokesperson Moloto Mothapo said a press briefing would be held afterwards, possibly on Monday.
