It does not matter whether you have the ID or DA in the Western Cape, all that is clear is that they are a bunch of stupid politicians with only one township support base. the best thing is to have a real opposition with a clear mandate (not moaners and groaners who complain about every little thing but come up with nothing better). - Dan Motaung |

call for a shadow cabinet 02/10/2008 13:22
Could the proposed coalition come forward with a programme and a shadow cabinet so voters can be shown that you have the human capacity to run the Western Cape province? Such a move would be daring and convincing (or not)to the electorate. The cackling AN Circus would be on the back foot. - Benzo |

Too late de Lille 02/10/2008 13:33
Patricia realises that the ID has lost most of it's support base as a result of her getting into bed with the ANC after the last elections. We don't forget that easily Patricia. How can we trust you again ? A vote for the ID is a wasted vote. If you want to keep the ANC out, vote DA. - Robert |

Not only WC 02/10/2008 13:35
Go ID! But also fight for N-Cape and Gauteng!
And with the UDM in E-Cape and with IFP in Natal.
We could take 5 provinces from the ANC. Then you can start making a real difference! - Johan |

we dont need a coalition, all we need is a breakaway party from the anc to accomodate the non-voters and the members of the party who cannot identify with the current ANC. - yungsta |

Sensible politics prevails 02/10/2008 13:38
A coalition government for the Western Cape is great...A DA Premier, supported by a mixture of DA and ID MECs. A good reason to come out and vote in 2009. - Mnyandu |

I agree with you Zoltar... 02/10/2008 13:42
hopefully it is a process and a feeling which will spread to all nine provinces by the beginning of the elections next year. These people have had their chance for 14 years and have done a lot granted, but not nearly as much as they could have or should have with the financial resources which they have (lined their own pockets with).Dan Motaung,it is your vote to do with as you wish, but think long and hard before you make that cross. You may be pleasantly surprised if you change your choice. - The Truth |

Aim for more provinces 02/10/2008 13:49
I agree with Johan that coalition governments can run a few provinces. WCape is a certainly, NCape and KZN are very possible...But Gauteng and ECape not achievable next year. Best bet is that in 2011 we get coalitions of opposition parties running Pretoria, Cape Town, Durban, Joburg and Kimberley. Exciting...politics has become interesting again - Mnyandu |

Yesterday she supported the ANC, today she doesn't. Wonder what tommorrow will bring..... wasted vote is spot on! - JM |

The Truth 02/10/2008 14:02
I dont give a damn about other provinces, but I would support a IFP coalition for KZN, otherwise, I will not vote at all. Never have. Politics is for greedy pussies. BUTHULEZU FOR EVER. - Zoltar |

id-patricia 02/10/2008 14:07
Pat,what does she offer south africa?she formed a party for wrong reasons, when she joined Pac we thought it was because of its policies, now she left, then what?she was singing Mbeki as a failed president he must be removed, when that happened she criticised Anc,now Anc western cape, this country does not need parties without vision and mission.-sol - solomon mahlangu |

Amen 02/10/2008 14:13
The only problem i can c is that ANC will once again import their supporters from the Eastern Cape, dump them in various squatter camps in the WC and still get those un/ill-educated people to vote for the ANC by promising JOBS, HOUSING, AND ALL THE USUAL LIES & DECEIT that accompany politics. All we can do is make sure we register to vote and vote against the ANC. Unless of course the SA citizens are cool with Jacob Zuma & Julius Malema ruling our country??? - Judge |

oppositions 02/10/2008 14:21
moaners and groaners about Anc this and that are helping Anc realise where they went wrong in the progress of their services to the people,we don`t` here any offer from all opposition parties
for south africans to think about,or maybe you enjoy being just part of the government, like a soccer club playing in the psl and not competing to win the competition instead surviving the relegation year in year out.-sol - solly mahlangu |

Coalition 02/10/2008 14:26
The one thing that specifically comes to mind when thinking of provincial government is how the ANC on provincial level prevented the City of Cape Town to build more houses... Imagine what could be done in the province if they could actually do what they set out to, and not blocked by the ANC, some of its members greed, and its "un-acountability". - tjk |

Opposition is racist 02/10/2008 14:26
I will never have any respect whatsoever for any political party in this country that views inequalities as class related and not race related. Where were these people when the apartheid separated people solely on the basis of their skin colour, DA nad ID are racists particurlarly DA...so to hell with their coalition government crap, viva ANC viva the struggle, ALLUTA CONTINUA - Mqedanga Maqeda |
