End to load-shedding questioned
11/05/2008 13:09 - (SA)
Johannesburg - The energy-intensive user group of South Africa has questioned the viability of Eskom's suspension of load shedding, SAfm reproted on Sunday.
"[Eskom CEO Jacob Maroga] said if Eskom puts every new bit of capacity online on schedule with no delays and the country's economy only grows by 4% instead government's projected 6%, in 2014 we will have a [smaller] reserve margin than we have today," said the spokesperson.
The energy-intensive user group includes mines and is comprised of
the country's biggest energy consumers.
The group's spokesperson told the radio station that the group was
confused about Eskom's decision to halt the power cuts.
"We cannot understand how they can say that everything has gone back to normal."
