Eskom coal supply 'tight'
14/05/2008 12:12 - (SA)
Johannesburg - There is a supply of at least 12 days of coal at each of Eskom's power stations, the state utility said on Wednesday.
Spokesperson Andrew Etzinger said the average size of coal supplies
gave stations 16.2 days of power. No station had less than 12 days he said, but the system remained "tight".
Etzinger said larger smelters could not be accomodated as they had
been in the past. He confirmed that Eskom had recommended a 53% price increase - but along with this recommentation alternative scenarios had also been set out.
